Nicholas Hittle is currently a freelance dancing artist in Chicago, IL. He recently received a BA in Dance and a BS in Liberal Arts and Sciences for Chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Before studying with the Dance at Illinois, he has studied under Deanna Doty and other teachers at the Champaign Ballet Academy (CBA) along with the San Francisco Ballet School, mainly focusing on the Vaganova style Ballet technique. While a student at CBA, Hittle appeared in multiple productions of their partner company, Champaign Urbana Ballet (CUB). He has appeared as the Nutcracker Prince, Rose King, and Sugarplum Cavalier in The Nutcracker, Prince Seigfreid in Swan Lake, Franz in Coppélia, Prince Charming in Cinderella, Prince Désiré in The Sleeping Beauty, and Solor in La Bayadère.

Since matriculating to the University of Illinois, Hittle has studied in multiple disciplines under the Dance faculty. He has trained in Modern under Jan Erkert, Abby Zbikowski, Dr. Cynthia Oliver, and Linda Lehovic. He has studied Umfundalai under Dr. Kemal Nance and furthered his Ballet training under Endalyn Taylor and Tere O’Connor. He has also appeared in multiple Faculty works through Dance at Illinois working with Rebecca Nettl-Fiol, Endalyn Taylor, and John Toenjes along with alumni Renata Sheppard and Melanie Bales. He has also appeared in Lyric Theatre at Illinois’ production of Crazy For You as Wyatt, under the direction of Sarah Wigley. Most recently, he appeared in Krannert Center’s production of Cabaret as Hans/Kit Kat Krew/Max, under the direction of Latrelle Bright.

He also appeared in his self-choreographed solo, vinyl historia, as part of Dance at Illinois’ Studio Dance 2 program. Other choreographic credits include being the Choreographer for a student-written musical Amongst the Clouds, the Assistant Choreographer of Illini Student Musicals’ production of Carrie, and the Choreographer of their production of A Chorus Line.
